The nice thing about music is that there's always something to discover, old or new. We caught the Brookville set a few week's back when they opened for Trachcan Sinatras at the Troubadour, and we were pretty impressed. Never heard of them, but we of course knew of Andy Chase (from Ivy and Paco) and Brookville just happens to be one of his many projects.
Anyway, the point of this post is to shed some light on Brookville's stellar take on The The's Slow Emotion Replay. Great live, and just as great recorded. The track appears on Brookville's second album, Life In The Shade. A softer take on the original.
Chase will release the third Brookville album, Broken Lights, on September 29th.
Listen below, and man, this really makes us yearn for some classic Matt Johnson:

I was also impressed with Brookville at the TCS show in DC. Bought a few tracks. He's a good arranger in particular.

I'm listening to the new album now as well, not bad at all. What did you think of TCS this time around?
