Martin Gore contributes Depeche Mode "Ultra" era unreleased track to the new Bomb The Bass album

This is pretty cool actually. 

The track Milakia, which was originally written during Depeche Mode's Ultra era, has surfaced on the new Bomb The Bass album.  Martin Gore contributed the track, which he wrote.  He also plays synthesizers on this version. 

Tim Simeon, who produced Ultra and is essentially Bomb The Bass, had this to say about the track -

"It's a track I've always loved, but could never find a home for, really. It seemed like a perfect closer for this (new) album".

Yazoo "Reconnected Live" trailer

We're getting really excited over this one.

Yazoo, or Yaz for those of us in the U.S., will release a 2-CD/download live album on September 27th in the UK/September 28th in the U.S. 

The material is taken from the duo's infamous 2008 Reconnected Tour which reunited Alison and Vince for the first time in 25 years, surely something fans never thought they'd see. 

The release will also be available as a 2-CD deluxe edition contained in a 32-page hardback book.  We'll be picking up that version.

Taking it all the way back to 1983 this week for Berlin's The Metro.  You know how some songs just sound sexy? The Metro is an extremely sexy sounding song, even decades later.  We've uncovered the original U.S. 45 cover, above.

Morrissey readies re-release of "Everyday Is Like Sunday", including rarities

We are likin' all this Morrissey news lately.  First the reissue of Bona Drag (our favorite body of work from the man), and now a special re-release of one of Mozzer's most well known singles, Everyday Is Like Sunday.

Above, we revisit the original photograph and cover art for the initial release back in 1988.  One of our favorite Morrissey solo covers.  The upcoming re-issue will be reworked with a rare Morrissey photo on the cover, and a slew of b-sides exclusive to this release.  The original single included the classic b-sides Will Never Marry and Disappointed.  The new version will be available three ways - download, E-CD, and across two 7" vinyl selections. 

What makes this a key release is the inclusion of November The Second.  A track long rumored, but never heard. Was it real or just a myth?  Apparently it is completely real and will finally be heard upon release, September 27th.  The track is rumored to be an alternate take of November Spawned A Monster.  The rest of the rarities play out in the track listing of all formats below -

Goldfrapp offer backstage look in new video for "Believer"

Goldfrapp's video for Believer gives fans a rare backstage glimpse to their most recent Head First tour.  It's fun to see Alison's silly side come across in the footage.  We've always felt Believer was one of the stronger tracks on the album, so it's nice to see it get a proper release. This kinda makes us bummed out that we missed Goldfrapp at the Hollywood bowl a few weeks back.

Stornoway serenade the botanical gardens with "I Saw You Blink"

Earlier this year, Stornoway paid a visit to the Oxford Botanical Gardens for an off-the-cuff performance of their track I Saw You Blink.  Finally going to be able to pick up their excellent debut Beachcomber's Windowsill on vinyl tomorrow - official physical product release date here in the U.S.

Elijah Wood to DJ Amoeba Hollywood this weekend, goes record shopping

Elijah Wood hits Amoeba Hollywood for a little vinyl shopping.  The self-confessed record nerd (just like us) has some pretty eclectic taste.  Join him on his record buying journey in the video below. 

As a side note, Wood will also DJ in the store this Sunday from 2-4pm - random, but cool.  Never thought of him as a DJ - wonder what the playlist will look like?  This all makes sense actually as Wood also has his own record label (which most folks don't know) called Simian Records.

On this day in 1990, Depeche Mode bring their "World Violation" tour to Los Angeles, watch/listen

Back on this day in 1990, Depeche Mode brought their World Violation tour to Dodger's Stadium here in Los Angeles.  Pretty pissed we never caught the band on this tour as it was in support of their insanely giant album Violator .  To celebrate, the band's official site is featuring video clips for all tracks performed.  Everything is raw and unmixed, and apparently taken from a video tape that was found in the band's office back in 2002.  If you're a fan, then I don't have to tell you how much this particular tour is coveted within the Depeche Mode universe. 

Feast your eyes and ears here.  World Full Of Nothing and I Want You Now, both acoustic, classic!  Would love a proper release of this somewhere down the line.
