Depeche Mode concert film on the way

According to Depeche Mode fan site Home, the guys will release a new concert film shot during their 2009 Tour Of The Universe.  The footage was recorded during the band's stop in Barcelona. 

Home states that the release will include a 40 minute documentary, the Anton Corbjin videos shot for the stage screens, NYC pre-tour rehearsal footage, promotional videos (Wrong, Peace, Hole To Feed and Fragile Tension), as well as a 16 page booklet.   A deluxe edition will include an additional booklet. 

Looking forward to cover art, exact release dates, final details, and more in the weeks to come.

Martin Gore contributes Depeche Mode "Ultra" era unreleased track to the new Bomb The Bass album

This is pretty cool actually. 

The track Milakia, which was originally written during Depeche Mode's Ultra era, has surfaced on the new Bomb The Bass album.  Martin Gore contributed the track, which he wrote.  He also plays synthesizers on this version. 

Tim Simeon, who produced Ultra and is essentially Bomb The Bass, had this to say about the track -

"It's a track I've always loved, but could never find a home for, really. It seemed like a perfect closer for this (new) album".

On this day in 1990, Depeche Mode bring their "World Violation" tour to Los Angeles, watch/listen

Back on this day in 1990, Depeche Mode brought their World Violation tour to Dodger's Stadium here in Los Angeles.  Pretty pissed we never caught the band on this tour as it was in support of their insanely giant album Violator .  To celebrate, the band's official site is featuring video clips for all tracks performed.  Everything is raw and unmixed, and apparently taken from a video tape that was found in the band's office back in 2002.  If you're a fan, then I don't have to tell you how much this particular tour is coveted within the Depeche Mode universe. 

Feast your eyes and ears here.  World Full Of Nothing and I Want You Now, both acoustic, classic!  Would love a proper release of this somewhere down the line. 

Happy Birthday Martin Gore

Depeche Mode's Martin Gore turns 49 today.  A little throwback to his 80's glory days above. 

Happy Birthday Dave Gahan

Happy Birthday to one of our favorite front-people ever, Mr. Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode fame.  We're a day late, but Happy Birthday anyway.  Gahan turns 48.   

On this day back in '93, Depeche Mode 12" for "Walking In My Shoes"

On this day back in 1993, Depeche Mode released the U.S.12" for their second single from Songs Of Faith And Devotion, Walking In My Shoes.  I still remember the hype and the buzz around this song, which was the perfect follow up to its rockier predecessor, I Feel You. 

The cover image (above) stood out in every record store and the mixes gave new life to the already perfect track.

Alan Wilder talks last week's Depeche Mode reunion

Alan Wilder gives a little insight into how his on stage reunion with Depeche Mode came to be.  Turns out it was Dave Gahan that made the original request of him via text.  It's nice to see the guys put the past aside and come together again. Who knows what this could mean for the future? We'd love to see Wilder come back into the fold. 

Wilder joined the band last week at their Royal Albert Hall performance to play piano on Somebody.  A clip of the rehearsal  proceeds the video footage of Wilder's interview below:

Depeche Mode "Photographic" live from Royal Albert Hall

We've been waiting for someone to post footage of Photographic from Depeche Mode's Royal Albert Hall performance, and video (very well shot) has finally hit the web.  Photographic is one of our all time favorite Depeche Mode songs.  A track taken from Depeche's debut album Speak & Spell.
