Photograph of the week - Adam Ant shot by Janette Beckman

We can't even go into how f**king amazing Janette Beckman's work is.  We just caught her show in LA at Project Space. It was phenomenal.  Her career has covered some of the most important musical movements in history - the late 70's British punk, mod and 2-Tone scenes and birth of hip hop in the early 80's in NYC. 

Beckman's snapshot of Adam Ant above is one of our favorites.  A very quitenessential young Ant in London, taken in 1980.  Shot just before Ant-Mania was about to break in the UK and beyond. 

Do yourself a favor and check out Beckman's other work.  She's got two great books out there as well that are worh picking up.

Great shot of Flowers and the black balloon, complete with sheriff-style badge.  Photo shot by the excellent Dean Chalkley.  He's shot an amazing roster of folks. He also moonlights as a DJ occasionally.

Photograph of the week - Dan Black shot by Eleanor Hardwick

We love this "unplugged" shot of Dan Black.  What's interesting here is that the photo was taken by 16-year-old up-and-coming English photographer Eleanor Hardwick.  It was actually difficult to choose just one photo from her selection of Black shots.  Check out the runner up here. 

Visit Hardwick's official site to see more of her work.  One to watch for sure. She infuses interesting concepts into her work and strays from the typical. 

Photograph of the week - Matt Johnson (The The) shot by Peter Ashworth

Great shot of Matt Johnson of The The fame taken by UK photographer Peter Ashworth. 

The funny thing is, Ashworth used to drum for The The (under the name Triash) in 1980.  His involvement was short lived as his focus remained on his photography craft.

Not sure of the year or location on this one, but we're pretty confident it's earlier 80's

Photograph of the week - Pete Doherty shot by Rankin

We became massive fans of UK photographer Rankin thanks to some of his original work with Morrissey.  Rankin's capture of Pete Doherty has always fascinated us. Out of all the Doherty shots we've seen, this one seems to highlight him in a mysterious light.  A glimpse of Doherty the artist vs. Doherty the tabloid headline.  We much prefer this one.

One of our favorite shots by the self taught genius Kevin Westenberg.  He perfectly captures the mischievous playfulness we all know and love in Mike Skinner.

Not only do we love the actual photograph itself, but the ghetto blaster action is pretty extraordinary.
