Everyone has jammed to this groove at one time or another. I remember living up in the Bay, and this track just rocking the clubs long before anybody actually knew who EMF was. The band actually played the SF hood a few times and I'll always remember the EMF shows as some of the craziest, wildest live events to take place during the 90's. They even spawned a huge pit, yes pit, at each show - who would have thought?

There's a few interesting things to note about the video for Touched By The Hand Of God. Not only is the video based on a New Order classic (the song gets better and better with age), but the video boasts a famous actor and a Oscar winning director.
Look closely for cut scenes, featuring a young Bill Paxton, interspersed between the band's mockery of heavy metal/hair band videos at the time.
The video was directed by Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, who won best director in 2009 for The Hurt Locker.

Taking it all the way back to 1983 this week for Berlin's The Metro. You know how some songs just sound sexy? The Metro is an extremely sexy sounding song, even decades later. We've uncovered the original U.S. 45 cover, above.

Bjork's looking her hottest here and she's topping the cute meter. She looks pretty rad in that racing (?) jacket. The video is quite random and features a bizarre moment where Bjork lifts a woman off the street (complete with leopard coat) and stuffs her into the back seat of her muscle car. What does she do next? She hits the road. Love this track and rallying for a Sugarcubes reunion.
We saw The Bravery guys out at a party over the weekend and it reminded us how much we loved the band's last album, Stir The Blood. In fact, looking back, it stands as their strongest body of work.
The album's lead off single, Slow Poison, boosted a great video that we are running as this week's random pick.
We really need to pick up Stir The Blood on vinyl.

Every now and then we discover a track, or in this case an artist, that we were completely unfamiliar with in the 80's. It always shocks us, especially when it falls into the New Wave or Modern Rock categories.
This week's discovery? Peter Godwin (thanks to the amazing Viva Radio DJs). Heard the track Art Of Love (some great 80's style UK remix), which lead to other discoveries such as the video for Baby's In The Mountains, a hit Godwin had back in the early 80's. Remember that? Or perhaps the equally successful Images of Heaven?
We were lucky enough to find a sealed vinyl copy of Godwin's out-of-print album Correspondence, featuring both Art Of Love and Baby's In The Mountains. Love finding a still sealed record from 1983 in 2010.
Still not sure how Godwin missed our radar back in the day?
May 1st hits tomorrow and that brings us officially into a-ha U.S. touring time.
The band will play Los Angeles at Club Nokia May 15th and 16th. Shows in New York, Chicago and Toronto will also take place.
